Cozy Drinks, Yummy Brunch & Payphones
Another week that I expected to be kinda slow but ended up being really fun! The week started with the public holiday I talked about last week - but a few days after my partner and I went out on our weekly "Date Night" where we go out for drinks and dinner after work. Usually it's low-key, but we decided to shake things up a bit and try new things!
We ended up going for dinner at an irish pub - we both had a pint and shared a spice bag1. It was super yummy but oomf from ireland told us it looked shit! So keen to visit one day and have an even better one !! Afterwards we decided to get a scoop of ice-cream from nearby which was also super yummy! While eating our ice-cream we were lementing the fact that there's no bar like the one we fell in love with in Melbourne2. I eneded up searching "Dive Bar" on a whim in maps and one popped up nearby that we'd never heard of & decided to give it a shot. It was only early in the night so it'd probably be chill anyway!
We ended up going to "Catapillar Club" - which almost is the vibe we were looking for. But it's close enough for now. Drinks we're kinda pricey, but it is what it is. We ended up staying for way longer than we expected, but its defs a regular for us now!
It was also really nice seeing transphobia being pointed out as a reason to flag staff down in the women's bathroom. More of this please! :3c

Another thing my partner and I got up to was going on our first ever late night Maccas run! Which honestly surprised both of us. We've been together what, like 3-4 years now - and we've never done a late night drive for snacks!!! I think we've just never really needed too since we're pretty good with having nice well sized dinners and maybe 1-2 snacks in the house if we're feeling it. But I cooked up a new dish for dinner that night and while it wasn't bad it just kinda sucked and was boring... so we went and got nuggets! Fuck the Maccas app btw.

On Sunday we met up with a friend in the city for Brunch at "Paramount Coffee Project" - It was like, a 40-min wait to get a table, but it was SUPER worth it. I didn't get any pics of my food that were good so you'll just have to trust me. But it was rlly yummy. Afterwards we just kinda bummed around the city not really doing much, a little shopping, some arcade games, but one thing that was fun: Payphone Tag!
Payphone Tag was something I found out about this week that uses all the free payphones available all around Australia. You're given a unique code and a phone number, and you can capture Payphones for you or your team, ideally capturing 3 or more to create a mesh! It's actually kinda fun & made me realise that I've literally never needed to use a payphone before. Super neat use of existing infra :3 !!
Afterwards we went and watched a friend play at a DJ comp called "Your Shot" - it runs every year and is meant for amateur DJs, was rlly fun dancing and hyping oomf up during their 45-min set time. Looked super stressful ngl, but it was fire :3 - I need more events playing music like dis around my area!
